The Problem
Traditional access control systems in LATAM rely on closed hardware, costly installations and outdated software. Guachi needed to digitize gatehouses, vehicle access and visitor management with a scalable solution that worked offline in buildings with intermittent connectivity.
Key challenges included: integration with multiple lock types, reliable VoIP intercom, real-time notifications and an admin panel for building managers.
Technical Solution
Chourio DEV designed a complete ecosystem from scratch:
- React Native/Expo mobile app: QR access, BLE beacons, biometrics, push notifications and offline mode
- 14+ NestJS microservices: auth, access, visits, intercom, CRM, billing and analytics
- Python edge IoT: Raspberry Pi with GPIO relay for physical barrier control
- WebRTC intercom: P2P calls between visitors and residents
- WhatsApp Business API integration for visit notifications
The architecture follows zero-trust principles: rotating JWT tokens, rate limiting, audit logging and end-to-end encryption for sensitive communications.
